To get some perspective on where the most accessible fortunes
lie in the new economy, let’s look back at two historical examples
of surprising new industries—the automobile and the personal
computer—and then look ahead at two new industries that are
just now on the rise: direct selling or direct response marketing
and (personal development) wellness.
Right now, network marketing is the only force I see that has

you earn if you never get to see your spouse or children, or

vice versa.
Just as baby boomers want to be younger and healthier, they

state of health. We don’t just want more dollars; we want better
dollars. And there is one emerging form of economic enterprise
that perfectly fits this description: network marketing.”
Financial Security is a false concept
that developed in American society based on the idea that
security comes from the perceived reliability of a regular
or planned paycheck. Many people, believing in the
commitment of their corporations to their well-being, have
found themselves downsized, laid-off, outsourced,
transferred, or, in some cases, even fired. The immediate
reality becomes harshly apparent and sadly disappointing.
In Today's Uncertain Economy,
How Secure Is Your Job?
The bottom line is that Corporate America will always be
focused on the bottom line. As a dependent corporate
employee, you are subject to the whims of the corporation.
You have absolutely no control over how much you earn, where
you work, the longevity and reliability of your income, or
your position. You are simply a number. At any given moment,
some nameless pencil-pushing number-cruncher, can deem that
you are no longer an asset to the company and, rather, have
become a liability. At any given moment, it can be deemed
that you no longer factor into the profitability of the
corporation - and you're OUT. They don't care if you have a
mortgage to pay, 3 kids in college or a new shiny car with a
hefty payment. They don't care that you've come in early for
the last 9 years or given 20 years of your life to them. The
bottom line is that you don't effect the bottom line in a
positive way...so you're OUT.
Corporations no longer hold value in employee commitment or
dedication. Each day, companies are choosing to cut costs by
outsourcing to less expensive countries with cheaper labor,
downsize, and reduce costs by eliminating cost of living
increases, benefits and retirement guarantees.

pledge made by corporations to their workers: for your
decades of toil, you will be assured retirement benefits
like a pension and health care. Now more and more companies
are walking away from that promise, leaving millions of
Americans at risk of an impoverished retirement."

printed on. Businesses in one industry after another are
revoking long-standing commitments to workers."

So, how do you achieve Financial
Security in this changing global economy? Employers aren't
even keeping up with inflation. True Financial Security is

This morning’s employment report leaves no doubt that
we are in a recession, with less-educated workers being
hardest hit so far. Private sector employment has fallen
for four straight months, since November (which will
turn out to be the beginning of the recession). The
private sector decline of 300K since November is
concentrated in construction, manufacturing, retail
trade, and temp services—mostly industries which tend to
employ less educated workers, on average.
Still staying strong are education and health care.
Education has a lot of educated workers, not
surprisingly, while health care has a fairly even mix of
high-end and low-end workers The combination of private
and public education, private health care services, and
private social assistance have added 239K jobs since
November. Employment in professional and technical
services is up as well, adding 44K jobs. Without these
areas, the economy would be in a steep decline.
Given the industries which are slumping and those
which are still expanding, it makes sense that the
unemployment rate has soared for less-educated workers
since November, while actually falling for
college-educated workers. For example, the unemployment
rate for high school grades rose from 4.5% to 5.1%,
while the unemployment rate for bachelor’s degree and
higher fell from 2.2% to 2.1%
The question now is whether the layoffs on will end
up hitting educated workers hard enough to change this
equation. Employment is down, but surely more is coming.
